Purpose: To compare change in RNFL thickness pre and post HFDS and HFDS plus cataract (CHFDS) surgery procedure.

Methods: 14 eyes (10 patients) with CHFDS and 10 eyes (8 patients) with HFDS were evaluated for IOP, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT), pre and post surgery at 3 & 6 months.

Results: The mean(SD) age was 64.4(6.9) and 56.9(13.2) in CHFDS and HFDS (P= 0.14).At Median change in IOP were non significant in both the groups at 3 (p=.91) and 6 ( p=.68) month follow-up Also median change in temporal RNFLT were non significant at 3 (p=.94) and 6 months (p=.92). Median change in superior RNFLT were non significant at 3 (p=.70) and 6 (p=.87) months follow-up. Similarly, Median change in inferior RNFLT were non significant at 3(p=.54) and 6 ( p=.52) months

Conclusion: The change in RNFL thickness was not observed in HFDS and CHFDS cases. However long terms follow up is required to rule out any structural changes.
