Aim: To evaluate clinical profile and management outcome of traumatic optic neuropathy.
Method: Retrospective analysis of all cases diagnosed with traumatic optic neuropathy between 2013 to 2017 was done.
Results: There were a total of 107 patients with male predominance (91,85%). Road traffic accident was the most common cause seen in 81% of cases. RAPD was present in 104 eyes (97%). Majority of patients had no perception of light at presentation. 44 patients (41%) were treated with steroids while 63 (59%) were just observed. There was no significant difference in the management outcomes in both the groups.
Conclusion: There is no difference (P=0.55) in the management outcome of traumatic optic neuropathy whether managed with steroids or with observation.
