Background: The objective was to determine and compare SIA and visual acuity in patients who have undergone temporal phaco with clear corneal & posterior limbal incision.

Methods: A prospective Study was conducted in 100 patients with cataract, 50 patients underwent temporal phaco with clear corneal and 50 patients with posterior limbal incision. Pre-op and Post-op Vision, retinoscopy and keratometry were analysed and SIA was calculated.

Results: SIAwas calculated. Astigmatism in temporal post limbal incision and clear corneal was 0.52 D and 0.65 D respectively. Post op Visual acuity was found to be >6/12 in 89% patients.

Conclusions:No significant difference in the SIA and Vn following phaco b/w posterior limbal incision and clear corneal. Stromal hydration was needed in clear corneal than post limbal incision. Oozing of blood was noted in posterior limbal incision probably results in better healing.
