Dr.Nangia Vinay Kumar BÂ [N03110] – Nagpur
Long term IOP control is the key to preventing blindness in glaucoma. Trabeculectomy is an important tool. When it fails, glaucoma implants are an important method of achieving IOP control. The surgery of Ahmed Valve and AADI implant are a challenge and require both learning and expertise. Indications for using a glaucoma implant help us choose the appropriate patient and timing of surgery. The surgical technique for both implant differs and offers opportunities to do a near perfect procedure, minimising complications and improving outcomes significantly. Post operative management may often save a failing implant surgery. Likewise complications can be minimised, but are often unavoidable. Their appropriate management can enable long term control in a majority of patients. The faculty will present interactive talks on indications, techniques, multiple scenarios for successful management of complications and present cases for audience participation.
